Before you apply
Demand for council and housing association homes is much higher than the number
of homes becoming available, especially for family houses and flats for younger people.
95% of properties are allocated to those in the highest need with only 5% prioritised
to applicants in lower bands.
This means that even if you are in housing need, you may not be offered a council home.
We do have more accommodation available and lower demand for older person's accommodation across the borough
Number of properties to relet
The Council has around 21,000 properties across the city, but we do not have all
property types in all areas. Our available properties are advertised online. About
1,200 properties become empty each year to relet
Consider all your housing options
Because of the limited chances of being offered social housing you need to consider
all housing options
If you are a Doncaster Council tenant, or a tenant with another local authority or
Housing Association, your best chance of finding a new home is to find a mutual
exchange. Doncaster Council tenants can register free of charge on Homeswapper
